A presentation of the basic pillars of a science-backed approach to optimise your time investment at the gym, that will show you how you can get your weekly dose of exercise in ten 10 minutes or less, if you are prepared to take the leap!

 

We will offer a rigorous definition of exercise and fitness, and what science has shown to be the most effective to achieve it. We will talk about the central role mitochondria play in our health and ways in which you can keep them happy and thriving, we will cover how ‘cardio’ really works (and whether it is a thing at all) and offer some practical information about how to put your newly acquired knowledge into action at the gym, using regular equipment.

 

We will also present the best technology available to exercise this way, Adaptive Resistance Exercise (ARX) technology, and will extend an invitation to attendants to experience it first hand at our soon-to-open facility. Oh! …and no electrical shocks are involved.

The idea is to offer tips for a decent and fulfilling life from someone who does not seem too remote in the world of professorship. Based on personal anecdotes, experience and choices, the workshop is intended to identify those personality and professional traits that can get you farther, without having to (largely) sacrifice a joyful life. There are ways in which you can look smart in certain (academic as well as living) situations and push luck to play on your side. There is no magic recipe. Far too many people are already writing too much about it. But listening first hand on the ingredients of a beautiful life might inspire others to complicate theirs and be someone reasonably interesting in whichever way you wanna go.​

Don't marry your idea just yet! - inspired by SpaceX practices. The workshop's objective is for people to become more comfortable with experimenting and getting important critical feedback on their ideas, in order to pick and work on the right one. If an idea can be easily discredited, that means that we should go back to the drawing board and see what needs to be changed. But that attitude doesn't come naturally since we have the tendency to love our ideas and get defensive when someone has something to say about them. That type of thinking is actually counterproductive to developing good starting points, which leads to us running with bad ideas and ending up disappointed when our plans are not successful. Instead, the outcome of the workshop is to get people to want critical feedback, to know how to implement it and to aim higher with their plans and ideas.

Our belief is that leadership is a talent that everyone has, and everyone needs. Like a muscle, it can be developed. When everyone in the organisation takes responsibility, takes ownership, then a whole world of possibility opens up.

 

We’ll work through 5 principles of leadership, defining who you are as a leader, not just what you do or how you do it. We’ll look at how this is relevant to you, today, and look at the impact that this new model has the potential to create
